When bringing in the remuda for morning chores it seems like there is always one “renegade” who seeks to skip work by slipping out of the herd. In this case, the alert wrangler was wise to this horse’s habits and was there in a flash to head him off.
The horses were drawn from five separate photos I shot during the 2014 spring horse drive in norther Colorado. Selected to “tell a story”, the challenge was to find shots that shared the same light source and direction as well as figures that would be interacting with one another via body positions and eye contact.
The image was enlarged and used by the Loveland Art Museum and the Society of Animal Artist’s Animalia Exhibition as their exhibition’s promotional entry billboard.
