Landscape Art
Witherspoon is a highly collected landscape and wildlife artist. She focuses on creating landscape paintings that are saturated with color and effused with light, textures, and perspective. “In this way,” states Kay, “I want viewers to feel as though they are actually there within that singular moment in time. That they can feel the temperature and breeze, take in the odors, touch the textures of fur, bark, rock and water just by looking at the painting. “
“Landscape painting (or landscape art) refers to an artistic genre defined by a focus on natural scenery as subject matter. Landscape paintings can depict a variety of settings, such as mountains, valleys, trees, forests, rivers, and beaches. They often offer a wide view of the scene, and usually place some focus on the sky. Landscapes in art put a great emphasis on the individual brushstroke to define the features of the landscape. Many landscape paintings do not have a complex color composition, but rather a simple harmony of greens, blues and earthy colors. To ensure a painting does not end up very monotonous, subtle variances are created in areas with a narrow range of colors (varying tones, values, temperature, texture, etc.” Definition
