Since “Rocky Mountain Lace” was painted, Geneva Falls near Denver, Colorado has been dredged, rechaneled, and fenced by private landowners. This exact scene of the falls has been altered somewhat below the large boulders.
Geneva Creek is a tributary of the North Fork of the South Platte River. It was a beautiful section of river with melodious water ouzels bobbing in and out of the river and stately pines and leafy deciduous trees and bushes in abundance.
