Students may sign up for 1, 2, or 3 days.  Please email Kay with your preferred area(s) of interest and the number of days you would like to sign up for.  Space is available for the Wednesday animal clinic while only 3 openings are available for the Thursday/Friday water, rocks, grasses, bushes and trees clinics.

The focus of these three days will be on the tactile and emotional qualities of subject matter and the importance of light, shade, values, techniques, and materials in accentuating the characteristics of each.

Kay will give numerous demonstrations, provide instructional handouts, then instruct students as they practice painting their subjects.  Students may also use their cell phones to record parts of the instruction and demonstration pieces to assist them in their home studios.

The students will come away with their own samplers of these subjects along with their notes and cell phone recordings.

The balance of your payment  is due two weeks prior to the start of the workshop and becomes non-refundable at the time of payment.  Payments will be refunded only in the event Kay Witherspoon cancels the workshop.  Space is limited to a maximum of seven students on a first come basis.  If enrollment is full, call Kay Witherspoon to be placed on a waiting list and to receive information on upcoming workshops.  Videos will not be permitted.

The cost of each workshop includes brush and hand cleaning supplies, paper towels, handouts, and a catered box lunch.  A complete materials list, class schedule, and directions will be emailed to newly registered students.  Kay’s studio is located near Park Meadows Mall with easy access to lodging, a variety of restaurants, and DIA (35 minutes away).Each workshop focuses on traditional realism and layering to achieve depth, form, and mood.  Students are encouraged to arrive with several photographic subject samples that they are interested in painting.  Students may also choose to restrict their painting to replicating the instructional images.  These images are designed to demonstrate various techniques, brushes, materials and styles used to achieve a desired form, emotion, and/or effect.
